Lumbiniis located in the plains of terai region in  Nepal and is sacredly recognized as the holiest site for all the Buddhists around the world,. Within Lumbini, lies Kapilbastu where Lord Buddha was born, therefore, thousands of  pilgrims  and other visitors visit Lumbini every year in order to offer their devotion, tribute and respect for the one, Light Of Asia, Buddha and enjoy the bliss of peaceful and solitude either wandering or meditating. This epicenter of the Buddism holds a long history that dates back to more than two and a half century and carries tremendous archeological and religious importance. In order to restore and retain the physical infrastructure of this religiously and archeologically important site, it has been listed in the World Heritage Site in 1979 for better preservation for generations to come.

It is the sacred garden between Kapilvastu and Devadaha, which were the kingdoms of Sakyas and Koliyas  the then dynasties respectively, where the prince of Kapilbastu,  Siddhartha Gautam was born in 623 BC who later became Buddha through  Bodhisatta, enlightenment. The  clear decree on  the  commemorative pillar erected by the great Mauryan Emperor Ashoka of India during his pilgrimage to the holy site in 249 BC and the Chinese pilgrims Hiuen-Tsiang and Fa-Hien’s direction, who visited India in the later centuries, are  strong evidences that support the reality of Lumbini being the birth place of Siddhartha Gautam Buddha in Nepal

Lumbini houses the  Mayadevi Temple dedicated to the mother Queen Mayadevi who gave birth to Siddhartha Gautam of such sacrificial and influencial power and holds the marker stone that clearly rectifies the exact spot where Siddhartha Gautam was born and the sacred  Puskarini Pond where Queen Mayadevi took her bath before giving  birth and Siddhartha Gautam his first bath.

Moreover, the Buddhist literature contains various descriptions of  miraculous moment of the time of the  birth of the Buddha. The astrological importance of the full moon day of his birth playing significant role, prominient deities including  Brahma and Indra from all heaven coming  to welcome and pay reverence to Budhha to this very earth and  the atmosphere being comparable to heaven with  the heavenly music and joy all depicting the enlightenement attained by the mankind through the very birth of the great man, who later showed a different path of perceiving life to all human race. However, this very moment might be exatraordinary to comprehend in our physical world, instead it offers us to seek deeper understandings of the moment described than just the surfacial and literal one.
